Implementing a Design
You can implement your design in an automatic step from the Design Manager or implement your design by executing steps separately. In implementing your design, you set important implementation options such as specifying which guide designs and templates to use.
To Implement a Design (Automatic Process)
The following procedure describes how to implement a design automatically from the Design Manager.
- Select Design
Implement from the Design Manager menu or click the Implement toolbar button.

The Implement dialog box appears, as shown in the Implement Dialog Box figure of the Menu Commands chapter. The options in this dialog box are described in the Implement Dialog Box Options section of the Menu Commands chapter.
The software detects if the design has changed. If the design has changed, the software creates a new design version or allows you to overwrite the previous design version instead. If the design has not changed, the software continues to use the same design version.
- In the Implement dialog box, click the Select button to the right of the Part text field.
The Part Selector appears, as shown in the Part Selector Dialog Box figure of the Menu Commands chapter.
- Select the family, device, package, and speed grade.
For a specific explanation of each option, see the Part Selector Dialog Box Options section of the Menu Commands chapter.
- Click OK to set the part type.
- To set design implementation options, click the Options button in the Implement dialog box.
The Options dialog box appears, as shown in the Options Dialog Box figure of the Implementation Options chapter.
- Select desired options, such as templates to use and reports to generate.
For a specific explanation of each option see the Options Dialog Box section of the Implementation Options chapter.
NOTETo perform timing simulation, you must select the Produce Timing Simulation Data option.
|
- Click OK to set the options.
- In the Implement dialog box, enter a design version and implementation revision name if you want to change the default names.
- Click Run to implement the design.
The Flow Engine window appears. When processing is complete, the Flow Engine closes and the Implement Status dialog box appears, as shown in the Implement Status Dialog Box figure of the Menu Commands chapter.
- In the Implement Status dialog box, click Reports to view the reports generated by the Flow Engine or click View Log File to view the implementation log file.
NOTEAt this point you can also perform timing simulation, if the appropriate option was selected, and program the device. Timing simulation is described in the interface user guide for your system. Device programming is described in the programmer user guide for your system.

To Implement a Design (User Controlled Process)
The following procedure describes how to implement your design in separate steps. Follow this procedure as necessary for your particular design implementation.
- Do one of the following.
- In the Design Manager project view, select an implementation revision icon.
- Select Tools
Flow Engine from the Design Manager menu or click the Flow Engine toolbox button.
- If you want to modify the implementation option settings, select Setup
Options from the menu in the Flow Engine or click the Design Implementation Options toolbar button.

The Options Dialog Box appears, as shown in the Options Dialog Box figure of the Implementation Options chapter.
- Set the appropriate options in the Options Dialog Box.
For detailed information on these options, see the Options Dialog Box section of the Implementation Options chapter.
- Click OK.
- Do one of the following.
- In the Flow Engine window, select Flow
Run.
- Select Flow
Step to single step through the implementation process.
